Technology Paradise Lost: Why Companies Will Spend Less to Get More from Information Technology by Erik Keller
The Business Value of Computers by Paul Strassmann

In this well-researched and well-argued book, Paul Strassmann develops his ideas on how to measure the business value received by organisations from their spend on IT

His proposal is his concept of 'Return on Management'™ in relation to measuring 'Management Value Added'.

He defines the relationship as Return on Management™ =     Management Value Added
                                                                                      Management Costs

Paul Strassmann presents some interesting ideas on IT and its relationship with Management Productivity. He explores the 'value-add' of management to the productivity of businesses.

However,  we at Btt have found that the ideas were not sufficiently specific for us to use them in real-life work with clients. We did find that by combining the techniques described in our white papers, articles and case studies, the business benefit of IT can be usefully quantified and measured. (See sections on Business Cases and Investing in IT & Technology).
