Why you should attend
The failure rate of software and systems
projects, particularly large and complex ones, is recognized by the IT
industry as embarrassingly high; 50% to 70% end in total failure. Partial
failures make up most of the remainder with less than 14% of systems and
software projects reported as successful. Evidently, something is dreadfully
wrong with the way we manage projects.
This seminar will give you an overview of a
powerful method, proven in such organizations as Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard
and Siemens, for delivering all systems and software projects, including the
large and complex ones, successfully and earlier than otherwise possible.
The method is known as Evolutionary Delivery Project
Management, or ‘Evo’ for short. International consultant Tom Gilb, is the
world’s leading exponent and authority on Evo.
He will update you on the latest ‘Agile’ version of Evo, and on the
experience of well-known corporations such as IBM and government
organizations such as the US Department of Defense, in applying Evo.
Tom also recounts many other successful case
studies of his Evo project work in the seminal book “Principles of
Software Engineering Management” (POSEM) and in his latest
book "Competitive
Engineering".
Evo has recently been cited in the journal IEEE Computer, as “arguably the
most successful project management method for complex and large projects”.
In this seminar, you will learn:
-
why
conventional project management methods lead to project failures
-
how Evo
contrasts with conventional project management methods and Evo’s
relationship with ‘Agile’ methods
-
how Evo
enables you to demonstrate early project progress by delivering real,
useful results to stakeholders/users in continuous steps of a few weeks
each (HP used 2-week steps)
-
how Evo
guides projects to dependably achieve their objectives by using regular
feedback to correct the project plan according to how well deliveries
to-date are working in the real world
-
the tools and
techniques to support Evo (covered in more detail in the "Competitive
Engineering" book and seminar
-
how to
introduce Evo in your own organisation – the one-week project start-up
Delegates to this seminar
will be provided, free-of-charge, with a CD-ROM containing Evo templates and
a wealth of accumulated experience and knowledge from Evo Project Management
practitioners.
